Synopsis:
The Compliance West LCB networks were developed to be simple, compliant leakage current networks used when measurement of touch current response in accordance with IEC 60990 and OD-5013 are required. This document describes the connection methods of the Compliance West LCB to the device under test (DUT) and measurement devices used to ensure compliant results.
Background:
IEC 60990 mandates leakage current transfer curves up to 1MHz, to allow measurement of high frequency leakage currents. OD-5013, “Leakage Current Measurement Instruments” mandates construction requirements of the leakage networks and also connection criteria.
Recommendation:
The Compliance West LCB Series was designed to meet the requirements of IEC 60990 and OD-5013, and each example is individually trimmed to ensure component tolerance.
The LCB network must be used as noted below to maintain compliance:
1. The measurement device must be an oscilloscope or voltmeter/DMM calibrated for measuring both true RMS and peak voltages at least over the frequency range of 20Hz to 1MHz, and a verified input impedance of >1MΩ and input capacitance of <200pF.
2. Connection between the leakage current measurement point and the Compliance West LCB must be made using the Compliance West shielded lead P/N 00-LCB-HF-TL (as provided with the Compliance West LCB).
3. Connection between the LCB and the oscilloscope or voltmeter must use the 1:1 probe supplied with the calibrated oscilloscope or voltmeter/DMM.
